# Agile Skills Test and Verified Agile Score

> An agile skills assessment focused on practice: live planning and retro sessions plus adaptive scenario questions on real delivery problems.

Anyone can list the ceremonies. The useful skill is knowing which ones help this team right now. Lemma assesses agile practice through live sessions and scenario questions about real delivery problems.

How Agile is assessed

## What Agile competence looks like

Someone good at agile delivery cares about flow, not rituals. They slice work small enough to finish, keep work in progress low and notice when a sprint goal has quietly become a wish list. Stand-ups stay short because blockers get raised and solved, not narrated.

They also adapt the method to the team. A retrospective ends with one change someone owns. Estimates are a planning tool, not a promise to be punished. When Scrum is too heavy for a support team, they reach for Kanban without making it a religious debate, and they can explain the trade-off clearly.

### Backlog refinement

Splitting work into small, valuable slices with clear acceptance criteria that a team can actually finish.

### Sprint planning

Setting a focused sprint goal and committing to work the team can deliver without heroics.

### Kanban and flow

Limiting work in progress, visualising bottlenecks and improving cycle time on continuous delivery teams.

### Retrospectives

Running retros that surface real issues and end with one or two changes that somebody owns.

### Estimation

Using relative sizing or forecasting for planning, while keeping estimates separate from performance pressure.

### Scaling and coordination

Managing dependencies across teams without layering on so much process that delivery slows down.

## What counts as evidence of Agile skills?

There is no compiler for Agile, so the record has to come from people and decisions. Lemma counts sessions with other practitioners, an adaptive test of scenario questions and peer confirmations. Each source and its limits are listed below. See the [evidence methodology](https://getlemma.io/methodology#evidence-types) for how each source is weighed.

[Live session](https://getlemma.io/product/sessions)

### Facilitating a mock retrospective

In a live session, you run a short retro or planning exercise with a practitioner playing a team member. How you draw out problems and close on a concrete change is what gets rated.

[Adaptive assessment](https://getlemma.io/product/assessments)

### Scenario questions on delivery problems

The adaptive assessment describes situations like scope creep mid-sprint or a team that never finishes stories, and asks which response helps. Difficulty follows your answers.

### Teaching backlog slicing

Teaching someone how to split a large feature into deliverable stories counts more than learning it. It shows you can coach the practice, not only follow it.

[AI tutor practice](https://getlemma.io/product/ai-tutor)

### Practice on frameworks and terms

The AI tutor drills Scrum, Kanban and flow concepts through short exercises. It is preparation rather than proof, and adds only a small, capped amount to practice.

## How is an Agile skills test run on Lemma?

The Agile test asks 15 to 25 trade-off questions, getting harder while you answer well and settling at your level. Its result joins sessions and confirmations from people you worked with in your Agile SCI, where fresher evidence weighs more.

1. ### Run a session as facilitator

Book a live session and facilitate a short planning, refinement or retro exercise with a practitioner. They rate how you guide the conversation and whether it ends with clear, owned actions.

2. ### Answer delivery scenarios

The adaptive assessment uses realistic team situations, from overcommitted sprints to blocked dependencies. Each answer moves the difficulty, and questions are timed so you rely on experience.

3. ### Build a reliable record over time

Agile is about consistency, and so is the score. Turning up to sessions, avoiding late cancellations and keeping evidence recent all strengthen your agile record more than a single strong result.

## Agile skills: common questions

### How do I prove agile experience in an interview?

Describe a specific change you made to how a team works and what happened next: a retro action that stuck, a story you split differently, a work-in-progress limit you introduced. Concrete outcomes beat framework vocabulary. On Lemma, facilitating a live session gives you rated evidence of that practice.

### Is a Scrum certification the same as agile skill?

A Scrum certification shows you know the framework's rules and roles. Agile skill is applying them well with a real team, including knowing when to adapt them. Lemma assesses the applied side through live facilitation sessions and scenario questions, which complement any certification you hold.

### What agile scenarios come up in the Lemma assessment?

Expect realistic delivery problems: a sprint goal that keeps changing, stories that never reach done, a stakeholder bypassing the backlog, or a team split across time zones. Each question has one best response. Difficulty adapts as you answer, so strong answers lead to harder situations.

### Can non-managers build agile skills evidence?

Yes. Engineers, designers and analysts all practise agile delivery. You can run a refinement or retro exercise in a live session, teach story slicing or take the scenario assessment. The evidence reflects how you work within a team, regardless of your title.
