Adaptive skills tests for technical skills.

An adaptive technical skills assessment changes the difficulty of each question based on how you answered the last one. Lemma's assessments run on a 1 to 10 difficulty scale, ask between 15 and 25 questions and stop once your level holds steady. Harder questions weigh more, and 6.5 out of 10 passes.

Between 15 and 25. The assessment asks at least 15 questions, stops once your level holds steady and never runs past 25. Each question has a time limit, and you cannot go back to change an answer.

The attempt is recorded and costs 2 points in the proof part of SCI, with failed attempts capped at 6 points in total. Retakes have a cooldown and cost fewer credits than a first attempt. Only your best result counts, so one strong pass outweighs earlier misses.

It is harder than on a fixed test. Each person takes a different path through the questions, recently seen questions are not served again, and tab switches, pastes and developer tools are logged. Flags go to a person for review; they never cut a score automatically.

A skill assessment covers one skill and sets a level from beginner to expert. A certification assessment goes deeper and is available on paid plans. In the proof part of SCI a certification can earn up to 15 points and a skill assessment up to 12; only the higher counts.
